It has 3500 members statewide, with an office in Portland. The board members represent diverse areas of the state, and meet regularly in Augusta to oversee and set policy for the organization.

Branson has been a member of the MCLU board since 2004, and he succeeds retiring board President Jim Burke of Buckfield.  He lives in Falmouth with his wife, Carolyn.
