Want to help create a more peaceful tone for community dialogue around marriage equality in Maine? Can you listen to people's thoughts and provide information without debating?
The Family Ambassador Project is a grassroots educational
initiative to promote understanding of how marriage for same-sex couples will
help
Family Ambassadors are committed to peaceful one-to-one dialogue in which
people are free to express their questions about marriage equality. Ambassadors
engage parents of school-aged children, friends and community members in
respectful conversations that provide nonjudgmental space for people to think
and learn.
Time: an hour to read the Ambassador Toolkit and think about it... then you
check in with your coordinator, wear a "Together" button and have
brief conversations that are woven into your ordinary activities during
October. No meetings. Once-a-week simple report on your conversations. To see what's in the toolkit, email Betsy Parsons at bparsons@mclu.org or clink on the links to the right. Support
from your coordinator and this Facebook Group.
No debating, no engagement with folks who are opposed or don't want to talk
about this topic -- but willingness to listen to those working out their
understanding.
Become a Family Ambassador now -- help people around you speak and learn about
this issue affecting
And please tell all your friends about this project!
